Content Marketing....The Basis Of Internet Marketing Success
Especially with the Google update of 2/2011 and how much it upset a lot ot marketers on the internet, thought it would be a good idea to talk about the real BASIS of internet marketing success …Content Marketing.
Content marketing is like the old story of Johnny Appleseed. That story of the guy who walked the United States just throwing apple seeds along his way. It is the same for content marketing. The content is YOUR seeds of information for people to grab hold of and be attracted back to your site.
When it comes to content marketing there are a couple of key points that you need to remember when you begin a campaign. They are as follows…
1. Market Research
This is where you have picked a product,, business or cause that you want to promote, you have to figure out who you are promoting it to. That is the market. You can begin with the keyword research tool from Google, and any number of free keyword tools that are online.
This is where you want to isolate your audience. Find out who they are and what are their needs, wants and wishes. What is it that they are looking for and how does your product, business or cause serve them. In doing your keyword research you want to identify what they are searching for. When you have a good list of 20 or more keywords and keyword phrases, then you are off to the next step. Content creation
2.Create Content
Content creation is the basis of success on the internet in the first place. You take your list of keywords and keyword phrases and you create content in all the forms possible…written, video and audio. It is with this newly created content that you are addressing your market. You are addressing your market with the things that they are looking for and researching on the internet. Remember the search engines LIKE new, user created content that serves the end user. Google made that point perfectly clear with their update in February 2011.
3. Push Content
So once you have your content, then next thing is to get it out there and circulated among the other pieces of content on the internet. This I sort of like to call “pushing it”. This is just content distribution. The more places you have content on the web, the more it will be found, commented on and virally distributed by those who believe that it has value to the issues it addresses.
There are a lot of great free or almost free services and tools that will aid you in ‘pushing’ your content.
